A comparison of different concepts of organisation consulting with special consideration of analytic group dynamics

Bernd Mützel (München)

In this lecture different concepts for consulting organisations are discussed. Within psychological consulting, three statements with different emphases can be distinguished: Systemic consulting, group-dynamic concepts and psychoanalytic (= psychodynamic) organisation consulting, whereby the boundaries can by all means flow into each other.

Analytic group dynamics, as it is defined by the Berlin School of Dynamic Psychiatry proceeds on the assumption that groups are social units with their own specific legitimacy. This definition includes the psychodynamic and human structural thinking which means that group-dynamic processes influence identity development. Analytic group dynamics integrates not only systemic aspects but also dynamic and psychoanalytic points of view, and can thus be used as a reliable concept for organisation consulting.
